Keyence NU-CL1 CC-Link Communication Unit
The Keyence NU-CL1 is a CC-Link remote device station for N-bus sensor amplifiers. It supports up to 16 connected units and provides wiring-saving power supply through a single connector.
The NU-PN1 from Keyence brings N-bus sensor amplifiers into a PROFINET network. This unit operates as a PROFINET I/O device. It cuts cabling work sharply because one Ethernet cable carries all sensor data to the controller. Furthermore, the module feeds power to connected amplifiers through a wiring-saving connector. Therefore, machine builders can deploy dense sensor clusters without long parallel wiring runs.
The Ethernet interface follows IEEE802.3u (100BASE-TX) at 100 Mbps. It accepts Cat 5 or higher UTP/STP cable with a maximum length of 100 m per segment. The unit handles both PROFINET cyclic and acyclic communication. Update times are configurable from 2 to 512 ms. Moreover, the device conforms to GSDML V2.3 and conformance class A. It also supports LLDP and DCP for device identification and addressing.
Sensor connectivity is a core strength. The NU-PN1 accepts up to 16 N-bus compatible sensor amplifiers. In addition, the total passing current must stay at 1,200 mA or less for the whole amplifier chain. This capacity covers fiber, photoelectric, laser, pressure, and flow amplifiers. The unit delivers power to these amplifiers via the wiring-saving connector, so each sensor position needs no separate supply.
Key Electrical Parameters
Supply Voltage: 24 VDC ±10%
Ripple: 10% or less (P-P)
PROFINET Communication Parameters
Standard: IEEE802.3u (100BASE-TX), 100 Mbps
Cable: Cat 5+ UTP/STP, max 100 m
Update Time: 2 to 512 ms
GSDML Version: V2.3
Conformance Class: A
Protocols: PROFINET I/O, LLDP, DCP
The unit weighs approximately 0.08 kg. Its compact housing fits tight cabinet spaces and distributed sensor junction boxes. Operating temperature ranges from -20 to +55 °C without freezing. Relative humidity must remain between 35 and 85% RH with no condensation. The NU-PN1 suits standard factory environments where PROFINET networks are already in place.
First, mount the NU-PN1 on a DIN rail or flat panel inside the control cabinet. Next, connect the RJ-45 Ethernet port to the PROFINET switch or controller. Then, import the GSDML V2.3 file into the engineering tool and assign the device name via DCP. After that, set the update time to match the machine cycle. Finally, connect the N-bus sensor amplifiers using the wiring-saving connector and apply 24 VDC power.
Keep the total current draw of all connected amplifiers below 1,200 mA. Additionally, use shielded cable and keep segment length within 100 m for stable communication. The unit relies on LLDP for topology discovery; therefore, enable this function on the controller side before commissioning.

Q1: How many sensor amplifiers can the NU-PN1 connect?
A: It connects up to 16 N-bus compatible sensor amplifiers. The exact number depends on each amplifier's current consumption.
Q2: What is the maximum current for connected sensors?
A: The total passing current must not exceed 1,200 mA. This limit covers power supplied from the unit to the amplifier chain.
Q3: Which PROFINET functions does the NU-PN1 support?
A: It supports cyclic and acyclic communication, LLDP, and DCP. The unit meets conformance class A and uses GSDML V2.3.
Q4: What cable and distance does the Ethernet port allow?
A: The port uses 100BASE-TX with Cat 5+ UTP/STP cable. Maximum cable length is 100 m per segment.
Q5: How is the unit shipped?
A: We ship via Fedex, UPS, and DHL. Transit times typically range from 3 to 7 business days depending on destination.
