Honeywell TC-FCCN01 ControlNet Gateway Adapter
Product Introduction
The TC-FCCN01 is a ControlNet gateway adapter from Honeywell's C Series I/O family. It connects a rack of up to 8 I/O modules to a ControlNet network. Specifically, the adapter handles non-redundant media and communicates at 5M bit/s. Engineers deploy this gateway in Experion PKS architectures to extend I/O across plant floors. Additionally, the unit carries Comm A and I/O Status indicators in red and green. The TC-FCCN01 draws power from an external 24V dc supply and feeds the backplane through the Flexbus.
Technical Specifications
Input voltage is 24V dc nominal with a range of 19.2V to 31.2V dc, including 5% ac ripple. The adapter draws 400mA maximum from the external supply. Meanwhile, Flexbus output current reaches 640mA maximum at 5V dc. Communication rate is 5M bit/s over ControlNet cabling. Isolation voltage measures 500V ac between user power and Flexbus. Besides, power dissipation reaches 4.6W maximum at 19.2V dc, and thermal dissipation hits 15.7 BTU/hr. Furthermore, the unit supports up to 8 I/O modules per rack and does not offer redundant media support.
A single RJ-45 Network Access Port serves programming duties. Note that this port works with a ControlNet programming cable such as the 1786-CP, though current firmware does not support it. A Safety Extra Low Voltage or Protected Extra Low Voltage supply must power the adapter to meet CE Low Voltage Directives.
Mechanical and Environmental Parameters
Dimensions measure 87mm x 94mm x 69mm (3.4in x 3.7in x 2.7in). Operational temperature spans 0 to 55°C (32 to 131°F). Storage temperature ranges from -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F). Relative humidity stays at 5 to 95% non-condensing. Shock ratings reach 30g peak operating and 50g peak non-operating. Vibration testing follows IEC 68-2-6 at 5g across 10-500Hz. The unit holds Class I Division 2 and Class I Zone 2 Group IIC certifications. Agency certification covers Groups A, B, C, and D.
Installation Guide
First, mount the adapter on DIN rail at the head of the I/O rack. Next, connect ControlNet cabling using Belden RG-6/U Quad Shield cable. Use 12 gauge (4mm²) stranded copper conductors maximum. Keep insulation at 3/64 inch (1.2mm) maximum. Tighten connector screws to 7-9 inch-pounds. Moreover, wire a SELV or PELV 24V dc supply within the 19.2-31.2V dc range. Finally, check the Comm A and I/O Status indicators for healthy green states.
