Terminals 2 to 1 and 3 have safety parameters of Uo=28V, Io=93mA, and Po=651mW with Um=253V rms or dc. Terminals 1 to 3 are simple apparatus rated at ≤1.5V, ≤0.1A, and ≤25mW. Therefore, this design permits connection into any intrinsically safe loop with an open-circuit voltage below 28V without extra certification. Moreover, the MTL5541 has received assessment for IEC 61508 functional safety applications. It is SIL2 capable for a single device (HFT=0) and SIL3 capable when used in redundant configurations (HFT=1).
