Keyence SK-H050 Handheld Electrostatic Sensor
Product Introduction
The SK-H050 belongs to the Keyence SK-H series of hand-held electrostatic sensors. Specifically, this device measures static charge potential, ambient temperature, and relative humidity in one portable unit. Static electricity causes defects in electronics assembly, film processing, and printing. Therefore, engineers need a fast, accurate way to locate charge build-up on production lines. This sensor addresses that need with two selectable measurement modes. Meanwhile, its lightweight body and AA battery power make field inspection simple. The unit suits ESD audits, incoming inspection, and equipment troubleshooting.
Technical Specifications
The SK-H050 provides two charge potential measurement modes. In high-precision mode, the measuring distance is 25 mm with a range of ±2 kV and accuracy of ±10 V. In wide-range mode, the distance extends to 100 mm with a range of ±50 kV and accuracy of ±100 V. Display resolution varies by range: 1 V below 999 V, 0.01 kV from 1.00 to 9.99 kV, and 0.1 kV above 10.0 kV. Additionally, the sampling cycle is approximately 1.4 ms. Temperature measurement covers 0 to +40 °C with ±1 °C accuracy and 0.1 °C resolution. Humidity measurement spans 10 to 85 % RH with ±5 % RH accuracy and 1 % RH resolution. A USB 2.0 Full Speed port handles data transfer. Furthermore, the laser is a Class 1 product under IEC 60825-1:2014 and FDA CDRH Part 1040.10.
Mechanical and Environmental Parameters
The unit weighs approximately 240 g and uses PC-ABS, PC, and SUS materials. Power comes from two AA alkaline dry-cell batteries, providing about 8 hours of operation in charge potential measuring mode. Operating temperature ranges from 0 to +40 °C without freezing or condensation. Relative humidity must stay between 10 and 85 % RH, with no condensation. Note that the SK-H055 charge monitor accessory requires 10 to 60 % RH. The SK-H050 itself does not include the charge monitor function. Therefore, users who need continuous monitoring should order the SK-H055 separately.
Installation Guide
First, insert two AA alkaline batteries into the battery compartment. Next, press the power button and confirm the display activates. Then, select high-precision or wide-range mode according to your target. Hold the sensor at the correct distance: 25 mm for high-precision mode or 100 mm for wide-range mode. Keep the laser spot centered on the measurement area. After taking readings, connect the USB cable to transfer data to a PC. Finally, store the unit in a dry place between 10 and 85 % RH to protect the optics.

FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between the two measurement modes?
High-precision mode measures ±2 kV at 25 mm with ±10 V accuracy. Wide-range mode covers ±50 kV at 100 mm with ±100 V accuracy. Choose based on target distance and charge level.
Q2: Can the SK-H050 monitor charge continuously?
No. The SK-H050 does not include the charge monitor function. For continuous monitoring, order the SK-H055 accessory, which supports that feature.
Q3: How long do the batteries last?
Two AA alkaline batteries provide approximately 8 hours of operation in charge potential measuring mode. Battery life varies with usage and temperature.
Q4: Does the sensor measure temperature and humidity too?
Yes. The SK-H050 measures 0 to +40 °C and 10 to 85 % RH alongside charge potential. This helps correlate static build-up with environmental conditions.
Q5: What is the shipping method?
We ship all orders via Fedex, UPS, or DHL. Tracking information is provided after dispatch.
