Keyence IL-1500 Panel Mount Laser Amplifier
Product Introduction
The Keyence IL-1500 is a multi-function analog laser sensor amplifier unit. Keyence designed this main unit for panel mounting on machine fronts and control panels. It accepts every IL series sensor head, which gives users great flexibility. A 6-digit display presents measurements with fine resolution. Specifically, the smallest displayable unit reaches 1 µm with the IL-S025 or IL-030 heads. Moreover, the IL-300 shows 10 µm and the IL-600 shows 50 µm. The display updates about 10 times per second. Therefore, the IL-1500 handles demanding inline measurement and inspection jobs.
Technical Specifications
This amplifier unit provides both judgment and analog outputs. The judgment output uses an open collector design. Users can switch between NPN and PNP, plus N.O. and N.C. logic. Furthermore, an alarm output shares the same NPN/PNP changeover with N.C. operation.
Analog output options remain highly flexible. The voltage output supports ±5 V, 1 to 5 V, or 0 to 5 V with 100 Ω output impedance. Besides, the current output covers 4 to 20 mA with a maximum load resistance of 350 Ω. Users select one analog type during configuration. Consequently, the IL-1500 connects easily to PLCs, data loggers and motion controllers.
Electrical and Communication Notes
The supply voltage spans 10 to 30 VDC. A ripple of 10% (P-P) is acceptable, and a Class 2 source is required. Power consumption stays at 2500 mW or less. At 30 V, the current draw remains below 84 mA. This modest draw suits busy control cabinets.
This amplifier carries no built-in communication ports. In addition, it supports no standalone protocols. However, optional IL series communication units can add network connectivity. Those units are sold separately. As a result, users can upgrade to fieldbus communication without replacing the main amplifier.
Mechanical and Environmental Parameters
The Keyence IL-1500 weighs about 170 g including attachments. Its panel mount design places the display right at the operator station. Operating temperature ranges from -10 to +50 °C without condensation or freezing. Relative humidity should stay between 35 and 85 % RH with no condensation. However, the protection rating is not published for this unit. Storage temperature data is also unavailable. Therefore, install the amplifier in a clean and dry location.
Installation Guide
First, cut a panel opening that matches the amplifier frame. Next, insert the IL-1500 and secure it with the supplied brackets. Then, connect the sensor head cable to the rear input. After that, wire the 10 to 30 VDC supply with correct polarity. Finally, choose your analog output type and set the judgment logic. Keep signal wires apart from high-power cables to limit noise. Also, confirm the display against a known target before production starts.
