Keyence GT2-H12L Contact Sensor Head
The Keyence GT2-H12L is a box-type digital contact sensor head with a 12 mm stroke. It offers 0.5 µm resolution and low measuring force for delicate workpiece checks.
The Keyence GT2-71N functions as the central processing unit for the GT2 high-accuracy digital contact sensor system. This main amplifier unit is designed specifically for DIN-rail mounting, allowing for efficient installation within standard control panels. Furthermore, it features a high-resolution display and a robust set of control inputs and outputs.
As a core component in precision measurement setups, the GT2-71N provides the interface between the sensor head and the control system. Besides its display capabilities, the unit offers NPN open collector outputs for flexible integration. Therefore, it suits applications that demand reliable dimensional verification and position sensing.
The amplifier unit features a 6 + 1/2-digit 7-segment LED display (red) for clear visibility of measured values. Moreover, a 2-color, 13-level bar LED display provides supplementary visual feedback. The display range spans from -199.999.9 to 199.999.9, with an outstanding display resolution of 0.1 µm.
This model supports timing, preset, reset, and bank no-voltage inputs for versatile control. Control outputs consist of HH/HI/GO/LO/LL signals using an NPN open collector configuration. In addition, the outputs handle 40 V / 50 mA or less with a residual voltage of 1 V or less.
The GT2-71N provides selectable response times to balance speed and stability. Specifically, the available settings include hsp(3)/5/10/100/500/1,000 ms. When paired with GT2-Pxxx series heads, the response times adjust to hsp(12)/20/40/400/2,000/4,000 ms.
The unit operates on a supply voltage of 10 to 30 VDC with 10% ripple (p-p) included, conforming to Class 2 standards. Under normal conditions, power consumption remains at 2,200 mW or less (73.3 mA or less at 30 V). Meanwhile, an Eco power-saving mode reduces consumption to approximately 1,700 mW.
The amplifier's main body case and front cover consist of polycarbonate (PC) , while the key top is polyacetal (POM) and the front sheet is PET. The unit weighs approximately 140 g, including the power cable.
The operating temperature ranges from -10 to +50 °C without freezing. Additionally, the relative humidity tolerance is 35 to 85 % RH with no condensation. Vibration resistance adheres to 10 to 55 Hz, double amplitude 1.5 mm, for 2 hours in each of the X, Y, and Z directions.
DIN-Rail Mounting: Always mount the GT2-71N onto a DIN-rail that is secured to a metal plate for proper heat dissipation.
Expansion Unit Limits: When connecting expansion units, observe strict power and current restrictions. For instance, with 2 to 8 connected units, the supply voltage shifts to 20 to 30 VDC and control output current must not exceed 20 mA.
End Unit Requirement: Always use the optional end unit (OP-26751) when adding expansion units to the DIN rail setup.
Wiring Precautions: The brown and blue power cables are only applicable to main units like the GT2-71N, not to expansion units.

Instruction Manual (Basic Setup Guide)
Q1: What is the display resolution of the Keyence GT2-71N?
A1: The GT2-71N provides a display resolution of 0.1 µm across its entire display range.
Q2: Can I connect multiple expansion units to this amplifier?
A2: Yes, you can connect up to 14 expansion units. However, note that connecting 2 to 8 units changes the supply voltage to 20 to 30 VDC and limits the output current to 20 mA.
Q3: What type of output does the GT2-71N utilize?
A3: This specific model uses NPN open collector outputs for its control signals (HH/HI/GO/LO/LL).
Q4: What is the power consumption of the GT2-71N?
A4: The unit consumes 2,200 mW or less in normal mode. Alternatively, the Eco mode reduces consumption to approximately 1,700 mW.
Q5: Does the GT2-71N include built-in communication ports?
A5: No, the GT2-71N does not have built-in communication ports. Serial or fieldbus communication requires optional GT2 series communication units.
