Keyence SR-710 Fixed Code Reader
The Keyence SR-710 is an ultra-compact fixed code reader with a 660 nm laser pointer. It reads barcodes and 2D codes across a 45–195 mm range with IP65 protection.
The Keyence GT2-H12L is a high-accuracy digital contact sensor head in the GT2 series. This box-type, low-stress unit provides a 12 mm measuring range. Moreover, its Scale Shot System works in absolute mode, so no tracking error occurs after power loss. The head pairs with a GT2 series amplifier through an M8 connector.
Resolution reaches 0.5 µm, which supports fine dimensional checks. Indicated accuracy is 2 µm (p-p) for repeatable results. The sampling cycle is 1 ms, and mechanical response is 4 Hz at 20 °C.
Measuring force depends on mounting direction. Downward mounting needs 0.4 N, side mounting needs 0.3 N, and upward mounting needs only 0.2 N. Therefore, the GT2-H12L suits soft or thin parts that cannot take heavy contact.
A 2-colour LED indicator shows red and green states for quick pass/fail reading on the line.
The sensor head has no built-in ports or protocols. It receives power from a GT2 series amplifier. Connection runs through an M8 connector, which keeps cabling simple and replaceable. Because the amplifier handles output logic, the head itself lists no output type. This split design lets one amplifier serve multiple head types.
Operating temperature ranges from -10 to +55 °C without freezing. Relative humidity of 35 to 85% RH is acceptable without condensation. The head weighs about 95 g, not including the cable. Its compact box shape fits fixtures and gauges where space is tight. Since the head works by contact, keep the spindle path free of chips and oil.
First, mount the head on a rigid bracket to avoid flex during measurement. Keep the spindle aligned with the part surface for true readings. Next, connect the M8 plug to the GT2 amplifier and tighten it by hand.
Then, set the measuring force by choosing the correct mounting direction. After that, zero the amplifier with a master gauge or reference part. Finally, run several test cycles to confirm the 0.5 µm resolution holds in production.

1. What is the measuring range of the GT2-H12L?
The GT2-H12L offers a 12 mm measuring range. Resolution reaches 0.5 µm for fine measurement tasks.
2. Does this sensor head work alone?
No. It needs a GT2 series amplifier. The head connects through an M8 connector and has no built-in port.
3. What is the measuring force of the Keyence GT2-H12L?
Force is 0.4 N downward, 0.3 N sideways, and 0.2 N upward. Lower force protects delicate parts.
4. What is the indicated accuracy?
Indicated accuracy is 2 µm (p-p). The sampling cycle is 1 ms for fast data capture.
5. Why does the GT2-H12L avoid tracking error?
It uses the Scale Shot System in absolute mode. Therefore, position data stays correct even after power cycling.
