Product Introduction
The Bently Nevada 330101-00-50-20-02-CN belongs to the trusted 3300 XL series. This 8 mm probe features a 3/8-24 UNF thread and comes without armor for flexibility in mounting. Additionally, it includes a 2.0-meter standard cable with a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector, making field connections straightforward.
Manufactured in the U.S.A., this model is specifically designed for radial vibration and position measurement. Its PPS probe tip resists harsh conditions, while the stainless steel case provides mechanical strength. Therefore, it suits demanding environments like power generation and oil & gas.
Technical Specifications
Linear Range and Scale Factor
This probe offers a linear range of 2 mm (80 mils), starting from 0.25 mm to 2.3 mm (10 to 90 mils). The incremental scale factor (ISF) is 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil) ± 5% for standard 5 or 1 meter systems. Furthermore, the deviation from best fit straight line (DSL) remains less than ±0.025 mm (±1 mil) within 0°C to +45°C.
Electrical Characteristics
The nominal DC resistance (RPROBE) measures 7.59 ± 0.50 Ω for a 1.0-meter probe. Meanwhile, the extension cable capacitance is typically 69.9 pF/m (21.3 pF/ft). For field wiring, we recommend using 0.2 to 1.5 mm² (16 to 24 AWG) 3-conductor shielded triad cable, with a maximum length of 305 meters (1,000 feet) between the Proximitor sensor and monitor.
Mechanical and Environmental Ratings
The probe tip uses polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), and the case is made of AISI 303 or 304 stainless steel. Its operating temperature ranges from -52°C to +177°C (standard) or up to +218°C for the extended temperature range (tip only). However, exposing the probe below –34°C may shorten the pressure seal’s life.
Pressure and Humidity
A Viton® O-ring seals differential pressure between the tip and case. Moreover, the probe shows less than 3% change in average scale factor after 56 days at 93% relative humidity (IEC 68-2-3).
Installation and Torque Guidelines
Mounting Recommendations
For radial vibration applications, set the gap to -9 Vdc, which corresponds to roughly 1.27 mm (50 mils). Use the 3/8-24 UNF thread with a maximum engagement length of 0.563 inches. First, clean the mounting surface. Next, hand-tighten the probe, then apply the recommended torque.
Torque Values
For standard forward-mounted probes, the maximum rated torque is 33.9 N•m (300 in•lbf), while the recommended torque is 11.2 N•m (100 in•lbf). For the first three threads, the maximum drops to 22.6 N•m (200 in•lbf), and we suggest 7.5 N•m (66 in•lbf). Over-tightening may damage the threads or the probe body.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Can I use this probe in a high-temperature steam turbine?
Yes, the standard probe operates up to +177°C. For tips above 177°C, choose the extended temperature range option (up to +218°C). However, ensure the cable and connector stay within their limits.
2. What is the purpose of the FluidLoc cable option?
The FluidLoc option prevents oil or other liquids from leaking out through the cable interior. This is especially useful in machines with pressurized lubrication systems.
3. How do I extend the cable length beyond 2 meters?
You can order extension cables separately. The total system length (probe + extension) can be 5 or 9 meters. Remember that the scale factor and DSL will vary slightly for longer systems.
4. Is this probe interchangeable with older 3300 series probes?
Yes, the 3300 XL series is designed for backward compatibility with most 3300 proximity systems. Nevertheless, always verify the system’s total length and calibration settings.
5. What happens if I exceed the maximum thread engagement?
Exceeding 0.563 inches may cause mechanical binding or damage the probe case. Therefore, always measure the mounting hole depth before installation.
