SICK DL35-B15552 | Dx35 Retro-reflective Sensor
The SICK DL35-B15552 is a Dx35 retro-reflective sensor with HDDM time-of-flight technology. It measures up to 35,000 mm on diamond grade tape and uses a visible red laser for easy alignment.
The SICK DR35-B15522 is a retro-reflective switching sensor from the Dx35 series. It uses HDDM optical time-of-flight measurement for long-distance position monitoring. Moreover, this model provides two digital switching outputs instead of an analog channel. As a result, it suits simple presence and position detection over large distances.
The DR35-B15522 detects objects from 200 mm to 35,000 mm on diamond grade reflective tape. This extended range allows the sensor to sit far from the target. Furthermore, the light source is a visible red laser diode at 658 nm. The laser is Class 1 and eye-safe per IEC 60825-1:2014. Pulse peak power is 250 mW, with a pulse duration of 4 ns and a duty cycle of 1/500.
Response time depends on the selected speed. Values include 2.5 ms, 6.5 ms, 12.5 ms, 24.5 ms, and 96.5 ms. Repeatability ranges from ≥ 0.5 mm to 5 mm, based on speed and remission factor. Measurement accuracy is typically ± 15 mm. Switching hysteresis is adjustable from 0 mm to 34,950 mm. Switching frequency reaches up to 333 Hz.
The DR35-B15522 provides two digital push-pull outputs, Q1 and Q2, in PNP or NPN logic. Specifically, Q1 also carries IO-Link V1.1 for parameterization and diagnosis. A multifunctional input adds extra control options. In addition, the visible red laser spot helps with quick alignment.
Supply voltage ranges from DC 12 V to 30 V with reverse-polarity protection. Besides, IO-Link operation needs Vs above 18 V. Power consumption is ≤ 1.7 W at +20 °C without load. The electrical connection uses an M12, 5-pin male connector.
The housing measures 32 mm x 58.6 mm x 42.7 mm. It uses plastic ABS/PC with an acrylic glass PMMA window. The device weighs about 65 g. The enclosure rating is IP65 per EN 60529.
Operating temperature ranges from –30 °C to +55 °C with Uv ≤ 24 V. Storage temperature ranges from –40 °C to +75 °C.
First, mount the DR35-B15522 on a rigid bracket facing the reflective tape. Next, connect the M12, 5-pin connector to a 12 V to 30 V DC supply. Then, aim the visible red laser at the reflector. This bright spot makes alignment easy, even at long range.
After alignment, set the switching points through IO-Link or teach-in. For instance, define the hysteresis and output logic for Q1 and Q2. Meanwhile, choose a speed setting that matches your cycle time. Finally, test both outputs against the real target positions.
