The RA890G1245 belongs to Honeywell’s Protectorelay™ series. This primary flame safety control supervises oil and gas burners. It operates on 220V power at either 50 or 60 Hz. A 15-second safety switch timing locks out the system upon flame failure. Flame response occurs within 0.8 seconds. Additionally, this model includes isolated SPDT alarm contacts. Therefore, you can connect external warning lights or buzzers. The RA890G1245 mounts on a Q270A universal subbase (sold separately). It works seamlessly with C7027, C7035, or C7044 ultraviolet flame detectors.

Safety Switch and Flame Response

Flame failure response triggers almost immediately after the flame establishing period ends. The flame establishing period itself can reach 15 seconds. Furthermore, the recycle function activates nearly instantly after flame failure response.
Alarm Contacts

The cover includes a thumb screw for easy access. A reset pushbutton sits on the front panel. Additionally, a flame current test jack allows field verification of detector performance.
Terminal Blocks and Connections
Terminal blocks are clearly marked on the RA890G1245 base. For line voltage controller applications, connect the controller between the limit control and terminal 6. Then, jumper T-T. For low voltage controllers, follow the standard wiring diagram. The load relay (1K) and flame relay (2K) are internal components. An M8720 transformer (TR2) and another transformer (TR1) complete the power section.
Ambient Temperature Ratings
Minimum ambient temperature depends on safety switch timing. Models with a 15-second safety switch, like the RA890G1245, operate down to -20°F (-29°C). Maximum temperature varies by alarm contact presence and frequency. For units with alarm contacts at 50 Hz, maximum is 105°F (41°C). At 60 Hz with alarm contacts, maximum reaches 115°F (46°C). Installation Guidelines
First, mount the Q270A universal subbase on a flat, non-combustible surface. Next, connect power leads to the appropriate terminals on the RA890G1245 base. Then, install the chosen UV flame detector (C7027, C7035, or C7044) according to its manual. After that, wire the SPDT alarm contacts if external notification is needed. Furthermore, connect the burner motor and ignition circuits through the load relay terminals.
For line voltage controller setups, place the controller between the limit control and terminal 6. Remember to install a jumper across T-T. For paralleling two flame detectors, follow the specific detector instructions carefully. Finally, secure the RA890G1245 cover using the thumb screw. Perform a flame current test using the test jack before putting the system into service.
