Keyence KV-N40ATP AC Power PNP Transistor PLC
The KV-N40ATP is a Keyence KV Nano base unit with AC power input. It offers 24 inputs and 16 source-type transistor outputs. Three pulse axes support precise positioning control.
The KV-N40AR belongs to the Keyence KV Nano series of all-in-one terminal block PLCs. This base unit suits small to medium machines that need reliable discrete control. It combines a 100–240 VAC power supply with 24 input points and 16 relay output points. Because relay outputs handle both AC and DC loads, the KV-N40AR fits applications requiring direct switching of solenoids, contactors, or indicator lamps.
The controller executes basic instructions in 50 ns and application instructions in 170 ns. Program capacity reaches 16k steps, which supports moderate ladder logic and KV Script routines. Three positioning pulse outputs run at 100 kHz maximum, enabling simple motion tasks without extra modules. Two high-speed counter channels accept 100 kHz single-phase or 50 kHz phase-difference signals for encoder-based measurement.
Users can attach up to eight expansion units to the KV-N40AR, raising total I/O to 256 points beyond the base unit. A built-in RS-232C modular connector supports KV STUDIO programming and no-protocol serial communication. For larger systems, backplane communication modules provide additional connectivity options.
The KV-N40AR operates on 100 to 240 VAC with +10%/−15% tolerance. An auxiliary 24 VDC output delivers 0.6 A for sensors or small loads. Operating temperature ranges from 0 to +55 °C, while storage tolerance extends from −25 to +75 °C. The unit withstands vibration of 9.8 m/s² intermittently and shock of 150 m/s². Installation altitude must stay below 2000 m.
First, mount the base unit on a DIN rail or directly onto a panel using the provided mounting holes. Next, connect the AC power terminals to a suitable supply circuit. Then wire input devices to the 24 input terminals, observing the common configuration. After that, connect output loads to the 16 relay terminals while respecting the contact ratings. Finally, link the RS-232C port to a PC for programming via KV STUDIO.

Q1: What output type does the KV-N40AR use?
The KV-N40AR provides relay outputs. Relay contacts work with both AC and DC load circuits, which adds wiring flexibility.
Q2: Can the KV-N40AR control stepper or servo drives?
Yes. The unit includes three positioning pulse outputs rated at 100 kHz maximum. These outputs support simple point-to-point positioning tasks.
Q3: How many expansion units can connect to this base unit?
Up to eight I/O expansion units attach to the KV-N40AR. This configuration expands system capacity to 256 I/O points excluding the base I/O.
Q4: What programming software works with the KV-N40AR?
Keyence KV STUDIO supports programming for this model. The controller accepts expanded ladder, KV Script, and mnemonic languages.
Q5: What shipping methods are available?
We ship orders via Fedex, UPS, and DHL. Delivery times vary by destination and typically range from 3 to 7 business days.
